On the directions of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Imran Khan, UET Mardan commemorated Kashmir Day on February 5, 2025, to express unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The event began with a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Dr. Sajjad at 9am on the day, symbolizing the university's support for the Kashmiri cause. This was followed by one minute of silence, observed by faculty members, students, and staff to honor the struggles and sacrifices of Kashmiris.
A series of meaningful events were organized to highlight the importance of the day and to raise awareness among students and faculty about the ongoing struggle of Kashmiris.
The activities commenced with a debate competition on the topic "The Role of Youth in Advocating for Kashmir," organized by the Director of Clubs & Societies. The competition provided a platform for students to articulate their perspectives on the role of young people in advocating for the rights of Kashmiris. The participants passionately discussed the importance of raising awareness, engaging in diplomatic dialogues, and utilizing social media as a tool to voice support for the Kashmiri cause.
Following the debate competition, a solidarity walk was organized within the university premises. The walk saw active participation from the Chairpersons and faculty members of various departments, along with students who carried banners and placards bearing messages of peace, justice, and support for Kashmiris. The participants marched together, symbolizing unity and a collective stance against oppression and injustice.
During the event, faculty members and students expressed their thoughts on the significance of Kashmir Day, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolutions and the role of the international community in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Kashmir. The university reaffirmed its commitment to standing in solidarity with the people of Kashmir and promoting awareness about their rights.
