On 22nd March, 2023, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Mardan, organized a plantation drive called "Plants, Sow to Grow" on their new campus at Mouza Platoo. The primary aim of this initiative was to create a positive impact on the environment, encourage biodiversity, and minimize the impact of climate change. The plantation drive was carried out over a vast 400 Kanal area and witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Sadiqullah (Vice Chancellor, UET Mardan), Prof. Dr. Imran Khan (Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Computing), Dr. Alam (Registrar), Engr. Sajjad Ali (Director P & D), Dr. Shah Riaz (Chairman, Mechanical Engineering Department), heads of teaching departments, faculty members, staff members, and students from various societies. The event was also graced by the presence of the Deputy Commissioner of Mardan, Capt (R) Abdur Rehman, who was the chief guest.
The program began with a reception for the chief guest at 10:50 AM, followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran and an introductory speech by Prof. Dr. Imran Khan. The awareness walk commenced with seven groups of students, each carrying a plant. The activity concluded with speeches by Prof. Dr. Sadiqullah (Vice Chancellor, UET Mardan) and the chief guest, who praised UET Mardan's efforts and offered support for planting more trees on the New Campus.
The event successfully fulfilled its objectives by creating environmental awareness among the attendees and promoting positive environmental practices, with the support of Kashif Zaman Dawar, CEO of Missouri Marketing.
