On Thursday, 17 March 2022, UET Mardan formally started its Mini Olympics 2022. Vice Chancellor UET Mardan Professor Dr. Shahid Khattak welcomed all the guests of the event.

Honourable Provincial Minister for IT and Food, Mr. Atif Khan was the chief guest of the event who formally started the exhilarative event by lightening the Olympic Flame. The Chief Guest also inaugurated the New Academic Block of the university. Prizes were distributed by the honourable guest among students who had shown excellent academic performance. Other dignitary guests at the event includes,  Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah Commissioner Mardan Division, Sajida Haneef MPA, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Habib Ur Rahman, Mr. Imtiaz Ayub Chairman BISE Mardan &, Mr. Zahir Shah Toru MPA Khyber Pukhunkhwa Assembly.

The inauguration ceremony of the New Academic Block construction is a part of the project known as, "Establishment and Upgrading of Core Engineering, Departments at UET Mardan" having a total budget of Rs. 1336.725 million. The sponsoring agency in the project is Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, which will be completed by June 30, 2022.

The project has the following components:

•             Civil Work (cost 459.160 million) including construction of four buildings (Academic block, boys hostel, girls hostel and staff hostel) and external development work.

•             Laboratories (total 23 laboratories cost 763.485 million) including laboratories for the Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering

•             Furniture/Fixtures (cost 52 million) including Furniture and Fixture for the four buildings

•             Books/Journals (cost 1.5 million) including books for the Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering

•             Transport (cost 31 million) including Two buses, One Hiace, One Ambulance, & One Car.

The project is visibly changing the map of UET Mardan, making it capable of holding ground in the race of technological innovation and service to local community by providing technologically educated pupils. Mardan as a second largest city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and on the route of CPEC needs such initiatives in uplifting the province by producing raw talent and services as an Engineering university.
