The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, in collaboration with Empowerment Thru Creative Integration (ECI), recently organized a two-day training for students, on the theme "Generation of Ideas for Social Entrepreneurship". The training was conducted on 04 and 05 November 2020 and was arranged at the Seminar Hall of the University. A total of 92 students registered for and participated in the training workshop. In line with the SoPs due to COVID-19, the training was conducted in two sessions, i.e. 10 AM-1 PM, and 2 PM-5 PM. Most of the participants were students from the 5th semester, while there were a selected number of students from the 7th semester and postgraduate level.

The resource person for the training was Ms. Ismat Bahar, from Peshawar office of ECI. The Career Liaison Officers and faculty members from every department-namely Dr. Muhammad Ali, Ms. Mareena Karim, Ms. Humaira Rehman, Ms. Sadia Jabeen, Mr. Humayun Khan, and Mr. Faisal Abrar-facilitated the registration and participation of their respective students. ORIC and the relevant staff members from Telecommunication and IT Departments provided logistic and material support to ensure smooth delivery and conduct of the training.

During the six-hour training spread over two days, the participants were first introduced to Social Enterprise, Sustainable Development Goals, Self-assessment and relevant potential areas in Pakistan. On the second day, the participants were trained on Root Cause Analysis, Process of establishing a social enterprise, Identifying target customer, Feasibility Study, Digital toolbox, and Financial Planning for social enterprise. The last session of the training involved feedback and evaluation of the proposals and ideas shared by the attendees. 

The training was followed by the Closing Ceremony; Professor Dr. Syed Ibrar Ali Shah, Registrar-Unversity of Engineering and Technology Mardan, was the Guest of Honour. He distributed the certificates among the participants who successfully completed the training. Thereafter, the Director ORIC of the University, Dr. Naveed Mufti, acknowledged the commitment shown by the trainer during the training. The trainer, Ms. Ismat Bahar, appreciated the active participation from the workshop attendees and praised the ORIC office in particular and university authorities in general for facilitating her in conduct of training. In the end, the participants and organizers had a group photo with the trainer.
